Akil Leggett, Jr.

Akil Leggett, Jr., is a second-year Comparative Human Development major at the University of Chicago, where he serves as Action Co-Chair for the Organization of Black Students, Co-Coordinator of Events and Partnerships for Leaders of Color at the Institute of Politics, Founding Vice-President of the NAACP Collegiate Chapter, and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Through this work, Akil channels his passion for advocacy by empowering young people in marginalized communities to engage in climate and health solutions, aiming to inspire the next generation of community-driven changemakers.

Action Chair

Lilianne Asokwah is a second-year in The College studying Law, Letters, and Society and Sociology. She’s one of the Action Co-chairs of the Organization of Black Students. She is also involved with W+ at the Institute of Politics as an Engage Co-chair, the UChicago collegiate NAACP chapter as the assistant secretary, and a student intern at the Institute of Politics.

Letom Kpea

Member

Letom Kpea is from the metro Phoenix area and is a current undergraduate at the University of Chicago studying Law, Letters & Society, and Democracy Studies on a pre-law track. Currently, she serves as an intern for the University Communications Department and Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression. She is the current founder and president of the newly established collegiate NAACP chapter, and she also holds roles within the African and Caribbean Student Association and the Organization of Black Students.

Destiny Giwa

Destiny Giwa is a first-year student in the college studying Data Science and Public Policy. She’s one of the members of the Organization of Black Students Action Committee. She is also involved with NSBE, Black Aspiring Legal Leaders, Girls Who Lead, and Building Bridges.
